Survival Equipment: Choosing the Correct Survival Equipment

Selecting the right survival equipment for any survival situation whether it is a surprise event or a planned excursion into the wilderness is more than just having a particular equipment. It also involves ensuring you have the correct variety of a particular item in an ideal quantity. If space was not an issue, every person would have an unlimited amount of the items they needed. However, logistics in the real world are as important as item selection making it necessary to stick to a few guidelines to successfully survive in any situation.

When it comes to survival equipment from uberprepared, the key concept is to keep it very simple. Many people tend to ignore this and try to cram as many items as possible in their survival kit. Look for items that can function multiple roles. For instance, a hatchet is a great item but in most cases that it would be needed for could be done with a quality knife. Multi-functionality is one reason a solid survival knife is a valuable item in any survival kit. A solid knife with a heavy single piece tang, thick blade and firm handle can be used for chopping, spearing fish, hammer pegs among other tasks.

When it comes to food, it is important to balance the quantity and quality of food when packing for a camping trip or survival situation. Salads are inefficient when it comes to their caloric standpoint in both the weight and calories required for digestion. Protein bars are a preferred item for any survival guide because of the amount of energy they offer in a tiny and portable package. While not everyone would like to eat military surplus meals all the time in the woods, it is obvious that these meals are designed to provide the maximum amount of calories while occupying a minimal amount of space.

The items that require charge or batteries should be at an absolute minimum. Relying on technology is great for situations when you are in a convenient location from the repairer but in situations where you are virtually isolated, depending on complex machinery can be very disastrous. To be Uber prepared and survive on your own, you need to select the correct tools, materials, equipment, and skills to live safely and productively through several days without support. As you go through this exercise, you will realize that your survival kit should include items for shelter, light, heat, emergency communication, water purification as well as power. The specific items you include in your kit will depend on your individual needs as the items should relate to your personal protection and survival.  They should include the hazards you may face, and your current survival skills and experiences.
